If you are having a casual celebration like an outdoor barn wedding or a reception at a mountain lodge, you need the perfect rustic informal wedding decorations. The entire mood of your wedding can be changed by how you decorate the space. Get some terrific inspiration for decorating your relaxed outdoor reception.
Every wedding benefits from the color and beauty of fresh flowers. Things which can be gathered from nature are always fantastic in a rustic setting. Some of the most intriguing centerpieces I have seen lately involved branches with puffs of cotton on them. The soft white cotton is a very unique design idea, and yet still has a bridal feel to it. Fruits and vegetables are also wonderful for rustic weddings. For a summer wedding on a lawn, fill tall cylinders with fresh citrus fruits. For an added detail you can place a wreath of Gerbera daisies around the base. Bright red apples are wonderful for autumnal decorations - you can even give them as favors at the end of the reception.
Informal centerpieces in natural settings look so pretty when they combine unique natural accents with the more expected flowers. Create a beautiful rustic centerpiece for a fall wedding at a barn using pinecones, mums, and gourds. A really neat idea for an informal spring reception is to tie a bundle of asparagus together and top it with flowers. Add a bouquet of springy peonies on the top to complete your stunning centerpieces that will have everyone talking.
Something else to think about is the linens you will use in your outdoor wedding decorating scheme. If your style is sort of a country elegance, you might opt for a tea length lace wedding dress with simple bridal jewelry. Lace runners on pieces of antiqued furniture would look really pretty for the side tables holding the escort cards. Materials with interesting textures look better in nature than smooth satiny fabrics. Dress up a rustic barn with wide burlap draperies swagged on either side of the doors. Or use burlap runners over simple tablecloths for family style service. Swiss dot table linens would be absolutely charming for a spring or summer wedding. You can get away with more fun or whimsical linens for a relaxed wedding reception.
Indoor or outdoor, casual or formal, it is just not a wedding without candles. Candles have an added advantage of being quite affordable. Candles contained inside vessels work best for outdoor weddings, because they are protected from the wind. You could use pale blue pillar candles in hurricane lanterns for a casual beach wedding. Strings of globe lights filled with tea lights are so beautiful hung over the dance floor for an outdoor evening reception. Large rustic lanterns look incredible strung from trees, while hundreds of tiny votive candles are the ideal thing to use on tables. Create an inviting and festive wedding with the decorations you choose for your casual wedding.
